As Inspector of Lock Hospital Dr. Ayres was further granted, on 1st June, 1885, personal allowance of £180-$864 £780 $3744
in lieu of fees for Bills of Health formerly paid to him which are now paid into the Treasury.
2. In reply to a former application for increase of salary informed by the Secretary of State's order (Despatch No. W.36 of 12th August, 1880) that his salary might be increased by £200, on condition of his giving up private practice except consultations. This would have brought his pay, independent of the personal allowance subsequently granted, up to £980 or $4,704.
