Ja… shall shortly despatch to Jou… on the subject of the proposed repeal of the Contagious Diseases Ordinances, and on receipt of that despatch I request you to report to me whether the change of the law will in any degree lessen or otherwise affect the duties of the Registrar General so as to render a revision of the salary of that office desirable.
3. Meanwhile W. Lockhart should be informed that though he is confirmed in the office, the question of salary is for the present left open.
