The Committee venture to express their opinion that should the change have arisen from a desire on the part of Her Britannic Majesty's Government to refer to the Local Government of Colony the various subjects which the Chamber may from time to time communicate to Her Britannic Majesty's Representative at Peking, such opinions could have been readily and promptly obtained from the Local Government; for the Chamber have been in the habit of handing them copies of all letters they have addressed to Peking, and should Your Lordship think fit to restore the long enjoyed ...
