By desire of the Committee of the Hongkong General Chamber of Commerce, I have the honor to inform you that, at the Annual General Meeting of the Chamber, attention was called to the request of Her Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires at Peking - conveyed in his letter of 25 February 1886 - to the effect that this Chamber "will be good enough in future to address any communication to Her Majesty's Representative in Peking, respecting the commercial interests of Hongkong, through the regular channel of the Government of the Colony";
