In reply to your letter No 162 of the 21 instant on the subject of Funds held in trust by this Department on which the Government receives interest, I have the honour to state that the funds held are at present inconsiderable in amount, being as follows:-
Intestate Estates $8792.98
Bankrupt Estates $1,138.76
$9,931.74
I am not aware whether interest can be claimed on undivided balances of Bankrupt Estates; I imagine not.
The above amounts are made up...
