specially to paragraph 3 of that despatch, in which I was asked to report whether there were any other funds similarly held upon Government which the ... now receives interest, I have the honour to inform you that the funds so held do not at present amount to $2,000: I enclose a Report by the Treasurer on this subject, and also the opinion of the Acting Attorney General on the whole question; and I shall be glad of your sanction to the continuance of the present system, for the reasons advanced by Mr Ackroyd.
