Cable from Salisbury to Sir William Robinson, Governor of Hong Kong.

5023 463 VRSCD15 MAD87/

Telegram. M. Marsh, Hong Kong.

15th. Made application to leave. Went to Cameron, been informed that he will administer and so on.

2. I understand this telegram to mean that Sir William Robinson now wants to postpone his departure and continue administering.

Sir R. Herbert Reutt. Mar 15.

1. For by telegram to C.O. 2065.

2. No, not at all. From 4646 & previous Corresp. I gather that his health necessitates his leaving Hong Kong. The only question is whether he goes on leave or forthwith goes on pension.

The last part of the telegram is, I think, quite independent of what goes before it and merely arises from the rumour of Mr. G. Bowen's return (on expiration of leave, notwithstanding his previous retirement) having reached the Colony.

84/15/3. Found it proposed to inform Johnson that he is to continue as before. But man...

Considering it necessary to make arrangements for regular payment of pension granted by Hong Kong and Mauritius.

Is information correct that Bowen is returning on expiration of leave?
