I have the honour to inform
that I have received the following
Report from the Provincial Judge :
"On receipt of Your Excellency's despatch stating that you had received a communication from Mr Alabaster, British Consul at Canton, that there were forty criminals in hiding in Hongkong, whose trial was ongoing and of whose guilt he was certain, he forwarded a list of them and requested you to direct proofs to be procured and sent in reply so that the guilty parties might be arrested and handed over, and instructing me, on receipt of your despatch, to inquire into the matter with all speed so that a reply might be sent through the Consul for the consideration of the Authorities of Hongkong.
