In reply to the questions put to me as to what I know of the action of Mr J. Orange, Resident Engineer of the waterworks, in connexion with a scheme for manufacturing cement locally, I have the honour to state as follows:-
Some time last June, on taking up the morning newspaper, I drew the report of a meeting of a proposed new Brick and Cement Company, and along with the names of persons assisting at the meeting, I noticed that of Mr Orange, who it appears had attended to express his views on the quality of materials and processes to be followed in the manufacture.
