passage to England by the Peninsular and Oriental line, for himself and family.

Mr. Grey's application has received the careful consideration of myself and the Executive Council, and the opinion which was arrived at was, that in consideration of his length of service in the Police Force and the good character which he had borne during that time, and further that he had not been confirmed in his new post, he might be treated as if he still belonged to the Police Force and be allowed the leave applied for, without salary, to enable him to count twenty years' service for Pension, and further that he might be allowed to retire at the end of this leave, as it was believed to be highly improbable that he would ever recover his health sufficiently to enable him to return to his post.
