He resigned at the end of the period, and I have to recommend that the leave thus granted be counted towards his pension.

He may be allowed to count his vacation leave as he has only had leave once during his service.

3. As his period of service exceeding nineteen years, under the special circumstances of the case, I offered to grant him leave without pay from the 11th instant until the 5th of May next, on condition that he return to duty.

Mr. Grey joined the Police Force in this Colony on the 5th of May, 1867, and on the 5th May next would, therefore, have completed twenty years' service in the Force, and have become entitled to claim a pension and a bonus.
