Latterly, the stricter discipline established by Major-General Gordon is no longer looked upon with the same indifference as formerly.

Copy of Mr. Mitchell-Innes' first report of 31st January last, in which he informed me of the occurrence of the mutiny, and reported that, by his direction, 12 strokes of a rattan had at once been inflicted on 54 of the mutineers, on 31st Jany 1887.

Report of enquiry made on the morning of 10th February, by the Acting Superintendent of the Gaol; and a Justice of the Peace (Mr. Wise, Barrister-at-law, Police Magistrate, and Acting Registrar of the Supreme Court) into charges preferred.
