morning and found that everything was secure and quiet. The prisoners had been completely subdued by the prompt and vigorous measures taken to suppress the outbreak.
I consider it extremely fortunate that this has been done without any bloodshed, as General Gordon feared might possibly occur, and as actually occurred in Singapore some years ago, in consequence of dissatisfaction with the rations issued.
The prisoners appear to have shouted "Ta, Ja" (Kill, Kill) encouraging one another to Kill the Prison Officials.
