4. After consulting with the Executive Council, I have appointed W. Mitchell-Innes to be Acting Superintendent of the Gaol, during the time that General Gordon is absent on leave. Mr. Mitchell-Innes has been acting as Police Magistrate, during the absence of Mr. Wodehouse; and the return of the latter to the Colony, left his services available.
