I had hoped that I would before this have heard something in reply to my application, made to you as far back as 18th June last, for leave to retire on a pension. I made my application then in order to give ample time to consider the question before the period when I proposed retiring, with the approval of Her Majesty's Government.
I have, however, heard nothing whatever on the subject up to the present moment, much to my disappointment; I do not know what my position will be when I am relieved of the administration of Government by Sir Cecil Smith in two months' time from this.
