Office Despatch W:1/11 of the 18th September, 1867, the Surveyor-General of Hong Kong was allowed to receive a fee of one per cent on the amount realized by the sale of Crown Lands, and prays that, as he has never drawn these fees for his own use, and as in 1882 he voluntarily relinquished his right of drawing them without asking for, or obtaining any compensation on his part, he may be allowed, when the time comes for his retiring from the service, to reckon such fees at a sum not exceeding £100 a year in addition to his salary, in accordance with the rule applicable in cases where fees form part of the emoluments of an office.
