I accompanied your despatch no. 8 of the 13th of January last.
2. I can see that Section 4 of this Ordinance should be amended by repealing so much of it as repeals Ordinance 7 of 1864, which occasions it is desirable that the Special Edition of the compiled laws under the Legislative Council remain in force until authorized the new Edition of the laws of the colony has been completed and made authentic by statute.
3. In regard to the opening words of your despatch under reference, I have to point out to you that the Colonial Office despatches no 65 of the 21st May, and no 224 of the 24th of September last, and the Circular of the 14th August, 1866, do not refer to the subjects dealt with in the Ordinance transmitted in your despatch under reference; but
