I am directed by the Secretary of State to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 9th inst., recommending a personal increase to the salary which Mr. Ford receives as Superintendent of the Royal Botanical Gardens, Hong Kong, for consideration.
I am to inform you that a copy of your former letter on this subject, dated the 8th of June, has been forwarded for the consideration of the Colonial Office, supplemented by a copy of the communication now under reply.
