Mr. Godley to Sir P. Currie.-(Received October 25.)

IN continuation of my letter of the 5th August, I am directed by Lord Cross to

India Office, October 22, 1886. state, for the information of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, that the Government of India concur in the observations of the Board of Trade* relative to the supplementary Franco-Chinese Convention signed at Tien-tsin on the 25th April, 1886.

The Government of India have also intimated that the existence of the Convention will be borne in mind during the impending negotiations for the settlement of the Burmo-Chinese frontier and the regulation of frontier trade.
