conclusion that the Tung Wah Hospital has been on many occasions the medium of relieving distress amongst Chinese on the mainland and in the Colony that acts like those of Hong Kong, and those of the Provincial authorities.

It is to be regretted that they must tend to check those charitable instincts amongst Chinese and Foreigners which it has been the pleasure of the Colonial Government to encourage.
