It will be seen from these figures that the cost of the Tytam Work is greatly in excess of the Severn Tunnel and Manchester works which are similar in character.

There are in our case many districts to which carriage of materials will be costly and accommodation must be provided for the men. But at Hong Kong there is a steep mountain which intervenes to reach the Tytam side, but then very little material has to be taken over for use at the heading.
