We propose with the Secretary for the States approval to insert the increased rate of pay and Conditions relative to pension, enclosed in the Acting Colonial Secretary's letter, a copy of which is herewith sent, in future agreements.

We have to enquire whether the Conditions relative to pension should be attached to the present Agreement.

In reply to your letter of the 12th inst., I am directed by Lord Stanley to state that, as regards the rate of pay for Police Constables in Hong Kong, a reference will be made to the Government on the subject, and that in the meantime no alteration will be made.
