I have the honour to forward original, a letter we have received from the Acting Colonial Secretary of Hong Kong, informing us that the rate of pay for Police Constables in that Colony has been increased from $480 to $540 per annum.
The 16 Constables sent out in September and October last were engaged in conformity with the instructions contained in your letter of the 21st August and 19th September last, at the lower rate.
