With reference to your letter of the 19th ultimo, I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies that there is no information as to the number of Wesley or seamen on the China Station during the year 1885. On the 31st December 1884 there were 306 Petty Officers, Seamen, Marines, and Boys, serving on board the twenty ships then on the Station. Of the total number of such ratings, the returns in this Office show that 1½ per cent were Wesleyan on that date.
