disclose the fact. This is another illustration of the terror inspired by the Triad Society, and of the consequent difficulty obtaining information respecting crimes with which they are connected. As I have already reported, several informers have been stabbed in the public street, and in daylight, some of whom died.
In most of these cases the wounded men were stabbed from behind, and could not identify their assailants, whilst of the persons passing in the street, some of whom must have witnessed the crime, none attempted to arrest the parties or gave evidence that would lead to their capture.
