1520

I think M. Marsh's recommendation on 1520 should be taken. If a successor to Dr. Whairy is appointed on $2400 collans rising by biennial increments to $3000, with free quarters, he should be told that he will not be allowed private practice; and that he will be expected to give such help as the government requires, as for instance in the Loch and Smallpox hospitals, and in medico-legal work and post-mortem examinations.

A paper of particulars is attached to this despatch.

C.Pd. 12 March

This was attended to. The appointment finally settled on $1600. Jul 15/0/87
