6th September last have been referred by me to the Sanitary Board for consideration.
The Sanitary Board have expressed their opinion that the Inspector of Live Stock and Markets should not be a person of "the grade of a refined gentleman but should be a practical working man able personally to perform all the duties of the Office, which duties will be necessarily at times of a somewhat rough and unpleasant nature".
"The Board fear that unless a person of this class is engaged, the Veterinary Surgeon may expect to have an Assistant appointed here to relieve him of the rougher part of his duties.
