D. Ayres having asked to perform this postmortem was informed that "Dr Harry has been doing the work whilst on a lengthened leave" and this knowledge "made him unwilling to undertake his duties.
"That efforts had been made that the Military could give assistance, but he is not aware that the Navy could have met with an accident anywhere.
The return of Dr Ayres, now on leave, will doubtless relieve the pressure.
14. That Dr Warry had not previously made any representation that he was unable to perform these duties although his state of health did not prevent his attending the Theatre in the evening.
The Executive Council having, on November 18th, received a letter of the 19th November...
"That on the 18th Dr Warry called and refused to perform the postmortem examination of Dr Marques's body, acknowledging that he was unfit.
