I was employed as a coolie generally at the Canton Steamer wharf. Yesterday afternoon, shortly after 3 o'clock, the "Shan Shui" steamer came alongside. Some coolies were working on the gangway with the steamer.
I saw the deceased, a Chinese, at the edge of the steamer's deck. He had first got to the opening when the steamer's gangway was being placed. The gangway caught the deceased's clothing, and he fell into the water.
Constable Campbell: The deceased was 27 years old. His wife is in Sam Shui Po.
