31. The Council deliberated for some time after Dr Wharry had retired, and finally came to the following unanimous resolution:
"That Dr Wharry's explanations are unsatisfactory, and the tone of his correspondence disrespectful and unbecoming.
"That they consider that he has fully deserved suspension for the deliberate refusal of duty in an emergency, at a time when, on his own shewing, he was in his ordinary state of health."
"That even admitting that his health is not good, there is nothing to justify this refusal of duty.
"That in view however of the state of Dr Wharry's health which he alleges prevents his undertaking...
