duties, enquired who was to perform this medico-legal work and was informed in reply that Wharry had been ordered to do the post mortem whilst D.Marquee is sick.

He communicated this reply to Dr Wharry on the 17th November, who again declined to do the work, remarking that "Surgeon Deanlan has returned from leave, and I understand that Surgeon Thompson is now off the sick list. It is the sole reason of the Military authorities for not furnishing the assistance asked for that Surgeons Thompson and Deanlan were absent from duty, it is reasonable to believe that, if applied for the services of a medical Officer will at once be available.

On the 19th November the Coroner reported that a body had been waiting in the Mortuary since the 17th instant for examination, and forwarded copy of Dr Wharry's reply to his order in which he said
