If the favour
were
granted to Foord, it could
only
be used as a
precedent
by those men who joined
before 1883, since those
who joined later deprive
themselves out of the
privilege; and therefore
unless the number of
such unmarried Constables
having joined before 1883,
is considerable, I cannot
see that there
be
any
serious objection
to waiving the rule in
favour of
Foord.
4. I should however, prefer
Buru
