The difference

between this amount at the current rate of Exchange of the day and at 4/2 would be
£1,238, which would be the maximum of the extra expenditure that might be incurred if this concession were made. But as already shown, the officers do not generally avail themselves to the full extent of this privilege, and it is estimated by the Colonial Secretary, and the Treasurer that the extra expenditure that would be entailed would not exceed £200 a year.
