by the Praça Extension, intimating that in front of the Naval Yard, would be the property of the Civil Government and might be disposed of, in order to cover the cost of the Extension works, which in that case would be undertaken by the Civil Government without further delay.

The Civil Government would not only construct a new Praça and public thoroughfare with brickwork in front of the Naval Yard, but also a considerable extension of ground given to them without purchase, it would only carry out the Act.

The Naval Yard would have the advantage of filling in within the roadway barrier and constructing any new docks that they may require. The old ones should be disposed of by them.

Private letter sent to General Cameron on 11 October in continuation of my letter of 6 October:

My reason for supporting the consideration of the General Officer Commanding the Troops in the removal of the Praça's site near the Praçaqui Gap was to get the Military Authorities to abandon the site now occupied by them on each side of Kennedy Road, or at any rate on the north side.

In that case, the Civil Government would be able to dispose of the valuable property proposed to be reclaimed, and by this means...
