was much astonished, and at once reported the circumstance to the Police Station. Petitioner's

son is not guilty of any offence, and if he were, he cannot be arrested by the Chinese outside their jurisdiction; it would

be necessary, if they wished to punish him for an offence committed

in China, to apply to the Hongkong Government for

rendition.

Petitioner is therefore compelled to pray Your Honour to kindly move His Excellency the Governor to apply to the Authorities at Canton for her

son's restoration.
