I was glad to learn from Your Excellency's despatch of the 19th ultimo that you shared Mr O'Conor's views, as recorded in his official communication to you of the 3rd of June last, with regard to the expediency of maintaining a Post Office at Lappa pending the preparation and completion of the scheme for modifying the present postal arrangements between the Treaty Ports of China and the Colony which is now under consideration.
