Civil Hospital. The number of admissions last year was 1510. The average for the past five years has been 1412. The average monthly admission has been 126. The number of Chinese patients treated during the year has been 485.
No doubt this number will be very considerably reduced when the "Alice Memorial Hospital" referred to in my despatch No. 200 is completed, which will probably be before the end of the year.
Wharry's statement that Sir G. Bowen removed the second Surgeon to the Hospital appointed by J. Pope Hennessy is misleading, as I have explained in another despatch by this mail, (No. 216 of 23rd instant, para. 6).
