by the Secretary of State to Dr Itharry's salary being based
on his representation that he had been called upon to perform
extra duties such as

charge of the Small-pox Hospital
and
the medico-legal
post-mortem examination, so,
it is to be clearly understood
that he is responsible for these
duties and it
is not to be
delegate them to the Assistants unless
are
very exceptional cases.
The
above arrangements
not to interfere in any way,
with the
general supervision over
all Hospitals for which
you Inspector of Hospitals are responsible You will also
continue
to have charge of the Lunatic Asylum.
The Assistant Surgeon
will be entitled to bachelor
quarters only at the Lock Hospital.
Subject to the above Conditions,
His Excellency
authorizes
Dr Wharry to draw
the increased pay from the
present year.
