arrangement, however, did not meet with the approval of Dr Wharry, anyone, and it will be seen that the orders given by Sir G. Bowen on 6th June 1883 had to be repeated by him in November, 1883, with the intimation that Dr Wharry was expected to obey them.
Further, in Dr. Wharry's report on the Hospital for 1885, he states that one man cannot possibly accomplish all the Hospital work of a Colony like Hong Kong, and, in support of this statement, he makes the assertion that the three Army Surgeons who relieved one another all - performing his duties whilst he was absent on leave last year, found that they required regular assistance in carrying on the Hospital duties.
