It was only on the 27 March 1880, after I had been for more than a year in the service of Hongkong that Sir Michael Hicks Beach, in sending instructions to the Governor to frame a new pension minute, directed the omission of the clauses of the intercolonial pension minute which had been published here on the 30th April 1870, and suggested the substitution instead thereof of clauses 18 and 19 of the Leeward Islands Pension Act.
