Inspector Draustin to the Captain this
Shanklin Police Station, (copy) 8th July, 1881.
Sir,
I have the honour to forward you the following information from instructions.
On the night of the 6th July I received information that I went with two constables to the hill side about 2 miles from the Station where I found over 100 men nearly all Triads, sitting around a joss image.
They afterwards burnt paper and called out names and on being answered heard the same name repeated by another person and the name was written down on a piece of paper.
One man also paid money.
From inquiries made I find it is a secret society called "Hung Pai".
Last night about 100 men met in the hill side again but dispersed in a few minutes on finding Munroe, Inspectable amongst them.
