In accordance with the instructions contained in your letter No.518 of the 9th April 1886, we have the honour to submit, for the information of His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government, the result of our investigations into the working of the Ui or Triad Society, so far as it appears to affect the interests of this Colony.
2. We do not propose to detail the former history of the Society, confining ourselves to recording that it was established about the middle of the last century for the presumed purpose of upsetting the reigning Dynasty of China, the Tsing Dynasty, and the return to power of the ancient
