I have already reported fully on this case (see my report of the 10th ultimo). Mr Chii Kam-fong did not join the firm as a partner until the 30th October 1876, it is impossible that he could have obtained permission to carry on business with So Yik-him on the 25th Nov. 1869, but the Market Register shows that a duplicate license was issued when Chii Kam-fong joined the firm; however, there is nothing to indicate that he was regarded as the original licensee. As I have stated in my report of this morning, the land has been put up to tender and has fetched $5,200 premium. It is therefore only natural that Mr Chii Kam-fong should be anxious to retain the premises. I fail to see on what possible grounds he can claim. He received a month's notice. That month has now...
