20 May 1886.

Sin,

We beg to thank you for your letter of the 11th instant with reference to the Chee Kam Tong in respect to N° 2, Case Lan! Western Market. 215

We regret that His Excellency is unable to reconsider the case, and as our client is dissatisfied with the decision of the Government, he has requested us to ask His Excellency to forward to Her Majesty's Secretary of State for the Colonies the whole of the correspondence in connection with the matter.

Pending the decision of Her Majesty's Secretary of State for the Colonies, our Client asks that he may be allowed peacefully to hold this ... as we have already informed you doing to the assurance given by the Acting Registrar General, our client has arranged his business, that so sudden a removal, as the Government determined upon, would entail a heavy loss upon him.

We have the honour to be,

Your most obedient Servants.

Nottow & Deacon (59)

The Honorable Frederich Stewart, L. L. D.,

Acting Colonial Secretary.
