Lordship praying that he may be allowed to retain peaceable possession of a "lan" or shop in the Western Market at such rent as may be deemed equitable, and that an enquiry may be held to thoroughly investigate the whole matter, and the action of the Hongkong Government in ejecting the said Chii Kam fong.
The circumstances briefly stated are as follows:-
In the month of October last the Memorialist, Chü Kamfong, reported at the Registrar General's Office that he had lost the licence for Poultry Lan W.2, Western Market, and requested that a duplicate might be issued to him. The Acting Registrar General, thinking that the applicant was the original holder of the licence, and having ascertained that it had been the practice to issue a duplicate in the event of the original licence being lost, gave instructions for the issue of a duplicate licence.
