to record that the water tanks used for bringing the water to the Praya were generously placed at the disposal of Government free of cost by Mr. Crawford of the Firm of Lane, Crawford & Co, and that Captain Croad of the Steamer "Fushun" belonging to the China Merchants Company, hearing at Whampoa where lying, of the distress of the poor at Hongkong, filled water ballast tanks with fresh-water before returning here, and placed it at the free disposal of the Harbour Master by whom it was distributed.
