General Post Office,

Hongkong, May 25th 1886.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of this day's date enquiring whether this Department would be willing to withdraw its Postal Agencies from the Ports of China in view of the extension to all the Treaty Ports of the Imperial Chinese Customs Post Office.

In reply I beg to say that this is a question involving reference not only to the Government of this Colony, but also to the British Government, whose Agencies those in question really are.

H. Kopech, Esq.

Commissioner of Customs and Postal Commissioner.
