Hong Kong, Polockade, for the use of the Parish Commissioners appointed to serve on the Hong Kong Commission -

I have received private information that great exertions are being made by Provincial Officers to induce the Chinese Imperial Government to withdraw their consent to the Commission which is likely to interfere very much with the profits that they have hitherto derived from their Offices.
