Comparative
Comparative monthly emoluments of Euro-pean officers as follows:
(a) That nine recruits be obtained from some one of the Police Forces of Great Britain through Hongkong Police Officers, who are on leave in England acting under the control of the Crown Agents.
(b) That the recruits be promised the following monthly emoluments:
Chief Inspector $125 Chief Inspector $160 1st class Inspector $100 1st class Inspector $100 2nd class Inspector $80 2nd class Inspector $80 Sergeant $60 Sergeant (new agreement) $70 Sergeant (old agreement) $60 Sergeant (new agreement) $52 Constable $40 Constable (new agreement) $45 Constable (old agreement) $40A salary of one hundred pounds per annum each to be paid at a rate in dollars calculated on the average value of the dollar during the preceding year.
(c) That with a view to avoid the expense attending the replacing of the men who are disposed to leave at the expiration of their first period of service, a Select Committee, including some Unofficial Member of the Legislative Council be appointed to inquire into the question of the pay and terms of pension of the European portion of the Force.
