Force now here would naturally expect to have their pay increased
in the same ratio, and the same thing would probably occur in the Straits Settlements as soon as the
Police there knew that the pay of the Force in
Hongkong had been increased.
Now there are 54 members of the Hongkong
Force drawing $540 a year.
The difference between this and $605.64, the equivalent as stated by Captain Deane
of £100 a year would be
